The Isle of Man isn’t territorially part of the UK and has its own tax laws. However for VAT purposes it is part of the UK and therefore has the same VAT system. The role therefore offers the opportunity to pursue your VAT career in an offshore environment.
The work is varied and will involve advising on all of the main indirect taxes including VAT, Customs Duties and Insurance Premium Tax. The area has a worldwide reputation for financial excellence and therefore has a diverse range of financial sector businesses but the firm also serves a variety of smaller businesses so the opportunity is there to really stretch your technical expertise.
The role will involve business development, leading existing client engagements, developing new market opportunities, developing client relationships and supporting the indirect tax offering on the Isle of Man. To qualify for consideration, you should have prior VAT (and / or customs duty experience) gained in a professional services environment, HMRC or the Isle of Man tax authorities. You should also have excellent client facing, relationship building and business development skills, plus good commercial awareness.
